Streaming growth glossary
Plain-English definitions of the terms used across our reviews and guides.
- Affiliate (Twitch)
- Twitch’s entry monetisation tier. Since June 2026 the criteria are 25+ followers, 4 hours streamed on 4 different days and an average of 3+ concurrent viewers on 4 days within 30 days.
- Auto-start
- A plan setting that connects viewers automatically whenever you go live, so you do not re-order for each stream.
- CCV / ACCV
- Concurrent viewers: how many people watch at the same moment. Average CCV (ACCV) is the average over a stream or period.
- Chatbot (chatter)
- An account that posts messages in your chat. Some services offer AI chatters that react to the stream.
- Control panel
- A dashboard to adjust a running order or plan: add or remove viewers, pause, change pacing.
- Cost per viewer-hour
- Price divided by viewers × hours streamed. The fairest way to compare hourly, weekly and monthly packages.
- Drip-feed
- Delivering followers or viewers gradually over time instead of all at once.
- Geo-targeting
- Choosing the countries viewers appear to come from.
- KCP / Kick Partner
- Kick’s partner programme. Published metrics (July 2026) include 75 average CCV and 30 hours streamed in 30 days, 25 active subs, 250 unique chatters, 3 VODs and 250 followers.
- Live views vs viewers
- A “view” can be a short visit; a concurrent viewer stays for the window you paid for. Packages priced per view are not comparable with concurrent-viewer plans.
- Moderation bot
- A bot such as Nightbot, StreamElements or BotRix that runs commands, timers and chat filters.
- Raid
- Sending your viewers to another live channel at the end of a stream. Some plans include incoming raids.
- Ramp-up / join interval
- How quickly viewers arrive after you go live. Slower ramp-ups look more natural.
- Refill
- A promise to replace followers that drop within a set period.
- Residential IP
- An internet connection from a home provider, as opposed to a data centre.
- Viewer-hour
- One viewer watching for one hour. 20 viewers for a 3-hour stream is 60 viewer-hours.
